Sights of interest
Nearby the world famous prehistoric caves of Lascaux, Rouffignac itself and others, with their unique wall paintings made by the Cro-Magnon people, are waiting for your visit. And so are many enchanting stalactic/stalagmitic caverns, beautifully preserved medieval town centers (Périgeux, Sarlat, Bergerac), villages, picturesque old churches and a wealth of magnificent castles:
Hautefort, Losse, Eyrignac, with its delightful French gardens, Puymartin Fleurac, and many others.

A walk of less then a mile will bring you to the ruins of Château de l'herm, the scenery of Eugène le Roy's novel "Jacquou le Croquant", which has also been put on the screen. The landlord himself will guide you in and around the castle and tell you its notorious history.
