Le Coteau de l’Herm

Barry & Val

What a brilliant find! From the moment we pulled into the campsite we were impressed. The roads to get there were straightforward and easy, even towing a 7 metre caravan. Aschwin and Manja, the owners who both speak excellent English, came out to greet us and welcome us to their campsite. We were invited for a welcome drink as they booked us in and explained the layout of the campsite. Nothing was rushed or too much trouble. They then took us around the site to show us the swimming pool, toilets, showers and the grounds and to let us choose our own pitch. The facilities are all very clean and well maintained. The campsite is not huge, about 50 pitches, which gives it a very laid back atmosphere. The pitches are a mix of sunny and shady, some with beautiful views of the rambling valley on which it sits. There are areas of the surrounding fields that have been mown to allow campers to walk for quite a long way without having to put any clothes on. While we were there the other people staying were very friendly, inviting us to play Molkky (a similar game to boules played with wooden sticks – it is much better than it sounds). They always said hello and  often stopped for a chat. Two or three times a week everyone was invited to eat together on long tables; barbecue one night, pizzas another, tandoori chicken another. The town and supermarket are less than 3 miles away. There are many excellent, interesting places to visit in this area of France. We stayed for 25 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

We will be back next year.
